Returns and Refunds

Returns/Refund General Information
Please email us at
Sales@TopHobbyTrains.comwithin 3 days of receipt of merchandise for a Return Merchandise Authorization number. Items must be returned with all original packaging, in unopened, unaltered, unused, new condition. Items returned must be returned within 10 business days of customer receipt and include a Return Merchandise Authorization number. Items sent back to us without a Return Merchandise Authorization number or outside the 10 day period will be refused and returned back to sender at sender's expense. 

Special order items are not refundable. 

Decoders and electrical items are covered by the individual manufacturers and their warrantee programs. Repair work should be directed to manufacturer.  If we can assist in this process please contact us at Sales@TopHobbyTrains.com.

Defective merchandise:

All items sold at TopHobby are new and backed by the Manufacturer. We will assist you in any way possible to resolve a defective product issue. We may, at our discretion, take a defective item back for replacement only. Generally, however, we advise all buyers to contact the manufacturer to resolve defect issues. We do not give refunds for defective items only a like item replacement and only if the item is still in stock. Manufacturers web sites can be linked to from our links pageItems returned to TopHobby that are covered under the manufacturer's warrantee may have to be returned to the manufacturer for inspection/repair. In this case a handling charge may apply. TopHobby will advise of this charge before shipping the item to the manufacturer. We will not ship the item until the charge is paid for.

Store Credit or replacement:

Store credit or replacement will be provided only after item has been inspected and deemed in original condition as stated above under returns.  Items not meeting these criteria will be returned to the customer at customer's expense and a store credit will not be issued.  TopHobby will not reimburse shipping on any order.


To return merchandise please do the following:
1. On the shipping label indicate the RMA # obtained via email from us.
2. Include a note in the packaging indicating what is being returned and the reason. (wrong item shipped, defect, decided that item was not needed)
3. Include all original packaging, instructions, warranty cards, etc. that were included with the item that is being returned.
4. Returned merchandise should be shipped to:

5. TopHobby will not be held responsible for packages/merchandise that are lost or damaged in shipping.  All returns should be shipped via a carrier that provides tracking and insurance. FedEx, UPS and USPS all provide these shipping services. It is the customer's responsibility to get the merchandise back to us in good order.
