These 40' drop-bottom gondolas are painted mineral red with white 'Great Northern' logo and lettering. They were built in July 1937, serviced in 1948, and run on Bettendorf trucks. This early paint scheme using gothic sans serif lettering was applied to new freight cars until 1956, and rebuilt cars through the 1970s; in 1956 the slant serif lettering was used on new cars.
