Norfolk & Western
Road Number NW 202536
This black 50' flat car with fishbelly side and side mount brakewheel displays large white "Norfolk and Western" lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. In 1870 the AM&O was organized from the merging together of 3 railroads: the Norfolk & Petersburg, Southside Railroad, and Virginia & Tennessee. In 1881, the AM&O was purchased by the Clarks from Philadelphia and the headquarters were moved to a city called Big Lick, soon renamed Roanoke. At that time, the AM&O was renamed Norfolk and Western. The Norfolk & Western's corporate existence ended as it was merged into Norfolk Southern Corporation.
