This 40' USRA class X29 steel box car with overlapping flat panel roof, plate end 4-6-4 Youngstown door and vertical brake wheel is freight car red with white lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Built in February of 1923, 92420 retained its vertical brake wheel and "Merchandise Service" paint scheme when it was shopped in 1950. Many of these cars were equipped with inside load dividers, as part of an effort instituted in the 1940s to improve less-than-carload shipments and prevent the loss of that business to the highway shippers.
